Samaritan dinner a success
Dear editor:
The staff, board members and men of Samaritan Ministries would like to thank all of the wonderful people who attended our very successful Annual Fundraising Dinner last Saturday evening. Judge Switzer spoke to the attendees about how the court system and Samaritan Ministries Men’s Director Wayne Douglass work together to help the men that she feels need a 10-month resident program at Samaritan Ministries.
One of our resident graduates and a staff member for three years, Lonnie Broadway, gave his testimony about how the Lord and Samaritan Ministries have changed his life and enabled him to have a good relationship with his family after many years of not seeing them.
Wesley Borgmeyer was presented with his certificate of completion of the resident program and has become the night manager at the mission.
Charles Laggan, board president, spoke to the attendees about the continued need of funds for the everyday opportunities that the men have in the overnight and resident program for bettering their lives.
Music was provided by Tammy Nelson and Sarah Henry.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious four entree buffet and a choice of apple turnover, pecan pie and/or cheesecake, all prepared by the staff of the mission.
Also thank you to our sponsors, Mountain Valley Water, The Porterhouse, Signature Events, Keith Smith Co., Greeson’s, Legacy Church, New Life Christian Church of Hot Springs, Solutions Home Entertainment, Turf Catering, Kroger, Harps Food Stores and Faith Fellowship Church.
Fundraising was an important part of this event and the opportunity to view and purchase items that the men build in the wood shop assisted in raising funds to continue to minister to the homeless men of our community.
Thank you to this community for your continued support and the support of our upcoming Friday after-Thanksgiving dinner and our Christmas dinner outreach to those in need during the holiday season. Jan Laggan Executive director Samaritan Ministries
