Arkansas Arts Center to host 49th Collectors Show and Sale
LITTLE ROCK — The 49th Collectors Show and Sale, containing artwork hand-selected from 26 art galleries in New York City, will run Nov. 10 through Jan. 7 at the Arkansas Arts Center.
The Collectors Show and Sale is one of the longest-running and most popular exhibitions organized by the Arkansas Arts Center, a news release said.
“We are thrilled to welcome the 49th Collectors Show and Sale to the Arkansas Arts Center,” said Brian Lang, chief curator and curator of contemporary craft, said in the release. “This year we are excited to present a diverse selection of works in the exhibition, ranging from Old Master drawings to finely crafted ‘art-to-wear’ jewelry, that will enable veteran collectors to add to their collections and perhaps inspire new ones to begin.”
In September, members of the Collectors Group, an auxiliary membership group of the Arkansas Arts Center, traveled to New York City with Lang and Executive Director Todd Herman. For three days, the group toured galleries and viewed more than 1,000 works of art in a variety of media, ultimately narrowing them to approximately 150 works that will appear in the exhibition. All the works in the exhibition are for sale, with prices ranging from under $500 to $85,000.
The exhibition features artwork carefully curated from galleries throughout New York City, from the Upper East Side and Midtown to Chelsea and the Lower East Side, including Debra Force Fine Art, Godel & Co., Meredith Ward Fine Art, and Kraushaar Galleries, all specializing in 19th and 20th century American art, to several focusing on contemporary art, such as Ameringer | McEnery | Yohe, George Adams Gallery, Berry Campbell, P.P.O.W. Gallery, Winston-Wächter Fine Art, and Pavel Zoubok Gallery, among others. The exhibition also features two new galleries: Les Enluminures, which specializes in illuminated manuscripts and miniatures from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, and Gallery Loupe, a gallery for contemporary art jewelry made by emerging and established international artists.
The 49th Collectors Show and Sale is sponsored by Sara and Jimmy Batcheller.
