Frances H. Arnold

Frances Hindman Arnold, age 91, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017, in Rogers, Ark. She was born in Ouachita County, Ark., to William James Hindman and Ethel Riffe Hindman both of Chidester, Ark. Frances was the youngest of seven and preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ewell Frank Hindman (Cynthia) of Crowley, La., Silas Gilbert HIndman (Merlene) of El Dorado, Ark., William Doss Hindman of Shreveport, La., Porter Joseph Hindman (Olivene) of Chidester, Ark. and two sisters Lillian Hindman Berryhill (Robert Arthur Berryhill) and Gladys Hindman Sanders, both of Chidester, Ark.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years William Frank Arnold of Rogers, Ark.; daughter Frankie Arnold Novak and sonin-law Bryan Novak of Rogers, Ark., and a sister-in-law Lois Fowler Hindman (wife to William Doss Hindman) of Shreveport, La.

Frances was a life long educator. Her undergradu­ate work was completed from Henderson State Teachers College, Arkadelphi­a, Ark., and graduate work was completed from the University of Arkansas, Fayettevil­le, Ark. She was a career public school educator and taught at Chidester Ark., Paul Pewitt Texas, Bauxite, Ark., Hot Springs, Ark. and Lakeside Schools in Hot Springs, Ark. She was an active member of multiple organizati­ons: Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Delta Kappa, Hot Springs Classroom Teachers Associatio­n, Arkansas Education Associatio­n and Founder of the Garland County Educators’ Federal Credit Union.

Frances favorite pastime was to have long conversati­ons with friends and family. She loved to interact with all ages of children but especially the little ones. She also enjoyed debating politics with anyone that dared to challenge. She was best known among close family and friends for her role as Santa each year during the holidays.

Visitation­s will be from 5:307 p.m. Tuesday at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, Ark., and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Red Hill United Methodist Church in Chidester, Ark. The Funeral Service will start a

Sally L. Cain

Sally Lynn Cain, 72, of Hot Springs, Ark., went to be with the Lord and became our guardian angel on Dec. 7, 2017.

She was born May 1, 1945, in Detroit, Mich., to Edward and Edythe (Gooch) Schmid. Sally was a God-fearing, loving, loyal mother, sister and grandmothe­r. There are a lot of people that she touched and loved unconditio­nally.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Christina Krutz and Sharon Reams.

Loving survivors include son, Michael Cain (Michelle); daughters, Marti Cain Alvarez (Salvador) and Bonnie Hill Zito; brother, Jimmy Schmid (Linda); and grandchild­ren, Autumn Holmes and Justin, Kody Cain, Nicholas Ray Zito; and best friend, Addison Samuel.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with Brother Bobby Thornton officiatin­g.

Coy Campbell, 40, of Hot Springs, Ark., died Wednesday, December 13, 2017.

Alvis Daniel “Dan” Dorris Jr., 65, of Hot Springs, passed away peacefully in his sleep Dec. 14, 2017.

He was born Dec. 13, 1952, in Monroe, La., to the late Alvis Dorris Sr. and Opal Dorris.

Dan was a unique individual. He enjoyed life every day and lived it to the fullest, making a difference in the lives of others. Dan was a talented musician and enjoyed the great outdoors, hiking and climbing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Loving survivors include his beloved daughter, Anna Marie Dorris, of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Freddy Dorris; sister, Ann Cedatol; nieces, nephews and a host of friends from all over the world.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Arizona.

JESSIEVILL­E — Freda Violet Garrett, 91, of Jessievill­e, Ark., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, in Arkansas Hospice at CHI St. Vincent Hospital.

Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Society, Arkansas Hospice or Genesis Medical Education & Research Institute.

Violet was born on July 27, 1926, in Fraser, Iowa, to Alvin and Gelina Ray.

On Oct. 5, 1946, she married Morris Garrett in Boone, Iowa. Violet was a member of Jessievill­e First Baptist. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, puzzles and spending time with her family and friends.

Violet is survived by her sons, Dale Garrett (Leslie), Don Garrett (Judy) and her daughter, Donna Fox (Jeff); 18 grandchild­ren; 24 great-grandchild­ren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Garret; parents, Alvin and Gelina Ray; and grandson, Jeffery Fox.

Mary J.C. Martin

Mary Jo Cook Martin, age

94, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 6,

2017, in Hot Springs. She was born on Oct. 24, 1923, to John Rowland and Edna Cook. She married Gilbert Martin on Feb.

6, 1941, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by their three children, Rhea Godwin, of Little Rock, Donald Martin and Robert Martin, of Hot Springs; eight grandchild­ren;

13 great-grandchild­ren; special nephew, John Cook, of Minnesota; and good friends, Boyce and Nancy Rogers; along with numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Community of Christ Church and will be missed by its members.

Dory A. McCraw Power

Dory Ann McCraw Power, age 46, of Hot Springs, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017. She was a loving, caring and giving women who left this world all to soon.

Dory was loved by all that knew her. She had a sparkling personalit­y and was a fighter.

She left behind a large family including her mother, Doris (Bobby) Parks; four children, Timothy Leonard, Erik Leonard, Dezerea (Scott) Baker and Brandon Leonard; four siblings Brian (Theresa) Telford, Sean (Linda) McCraw, Julia Rogers Nast and Stephanie Rogers; eight grandchild­ren and many cousins in the area.

Penny L. Schoggin, 65, of Hot Springs, passed away Dec. 14, 2017.

She was born Aug. 9, 1952, in Steamboat Springs, Colo.

She was a retired registered nurse.

Survivors include two sisters, Barbara Leslie, of Sun Valley, Idaho, and Cindy Vanderburg, of Royal, Ark.; and nephew, Kyle Vanderburg, of Hot Springs, Ark.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date in Colorado.

In lieu of cards or flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Garland County.

Raquel Villalta, 94, of Hot Springs, passed away Dec. 12,

2017.

She was born Oct. 24, 1923, in El Salvador, to Carmen Ayala and Raquel Villalta.

Survivors include her sons, Jose Villalta (Rubia) and Oscar Osorio (Alejandra); daughters, Zoila Oliva and Raquel Galan (Moises Trujillo); and 18 grandchild­ren.

A visitation will be held from

6-8 p.m. Monday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Caruth-Hale Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Mario Oliva officiatin­g. Burial will be at Crestview Cemetery.
