Garland County Library Art Wall features original art

-

The Garland County Library features original art by local artists and art groups monthly on its Art Wall. Exhibits are presented in collaboration with Emergent Arts, a 501(c)(3) community arts nonprofit.

Emergent Arts fosters creativity among emerging artists by providing creative experiences and accessible art classes to all ages and abilities. The Emergent Arts studio is located at 341-A Whittington Ave.

Currently on display on the Art Wall is a collection of paintings by Hildegard Honold. Honold is a native of Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1965 with her husband, Michael, and their two children, and became a U.S. citizen. After living in Chicago for 33 years where they owned and operated a manufacturing business, she and her husband retired to Hot Springs in 1998.

She discovered her love for painting in the spring of 2006, and began her art studies at National Park Community College in Hot Springs with local art instructors Thad Flenniken and Ovita Goolsby. She works across a variety of painting media and enjoys painting multiple subjects and scenes. Honold often features images of her extensive travels. She is a member of the Traditional Art Guild, the Edelweiss German-American Club and the Hostess Bridge Club.

The Garland County Library’s Art Wall is available for viewing whenever the library is open.
