Cheye Willis and Cody

Willis were each charged with one count of third-degree domestic battery, while Librea was charged with two counts. The charge is punishable by up to a year in jail.

Cody Willis was also arrested on a misdemeanor warrant for harassing communications. Librea was initially held without bond, but was later released. Cody Willis remained in custody Wednesday in lieu of bonds totaling $2,500 and Cheye Willis was still being held on $1,500 bond.

All three were scheduled for plea and arraignment hearings Wednesday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, police arrived at the residence at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and made contact with Librea, who was standing outside in front of the apartment. Officers noted Librea had visible injuries to his face, including small lacerations and dried blood.

When asked about the incident, Librea reportedly said his daughter, identified as Cheye Willis, and her husband, identified as Cody Willis, had attacked him in his kitchen. He stated his daughter broke the back door glass and entered the residence swinging her fist toward him while holding her 1-year-old child.

Librea told police he attempted to wrap his arms around her and the child to move them away from the glass when Cody Willis entered the house. He said both his daughter and her husband then began hitting him in the face, so he wrapped his arms around them, lifted them up into the air and slammed them to the ground.

Librea claimed he did not know where the child went during the attack.

Officers located Cheye and Cody Willis at another residence further up the street. They noted Cheye Willis had a red laceration and a scrape above her elbow and an abrasion to her lower back. Cody Willis reportedly had a laceration to the back of his neck.

Cheye Willis told police her father had slammed the back door against her, breaking the glass. After the glass broke, she said Librea began to hit her in the face. At that time, she said her husband entered and moved the child to a safe place and then proceeded to fight Librea to get him off her. Cody Willis reportedly corroborated Cheye Willis’ statement.

Officer Thomas Plummer reportedly observed the broken glass on the rear door and noted there was a large hole with glass lining the edges of the window frame. The glass was reportedly swept out of the property prior to the officers’ arrival.

The affidavit notes that “due to conflicting accounts of events and injuries on all the parties” all three were arrested.

According to the affidavit for the harassment warrant against Cody Willis, his wife, Cheye Willis, had filed a complaint with police alleging that between July 18 and 20, 2017, her estranged husband had called her around 58 times at work and at home after she had told him several times to leave her alone.
