Setting things straight

- Casey Alexander Mount Ida

Dear editor:

Larry Bauer and Mary Robinson certainly set me straight in their rebuttals to my prior submission. Again, they point out how everything wrong is the fault of Democrats.

Larry noted how Democrats were at fault for lead in the water in Flint, Mich. It’s unclear the political affiliation of the manufacturing company of the pipes or what political party approved the install, but hey, has to be Democrats. Case closed.

He also noted the bungled efforts by Democratic Mayor Ray Nagin during Hurricane Katrina, despite the well laid plans of FEMA. Thank goodness that Democrat is now in jail.

The one thing I struggled with after reading he and Mary’s letters, however, is some recent Republican transgressions: Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens admits to extramarital affair, accused of falsifying his campaign resume. Roy Moore of Alabama senatorial campaign infamy by numerous female accusers. Bill O’Reilly of Fox News fame, forced to resign over sexual harassment allegations. Then there’s Tim Murphy, Republican congressman from Pennsylvania, forced to resign after running on anti-abortion platform, only to impregnate his staff member and urge her to have an abortion.

Lest we forget, the videotaped comments about women made by Donald Trump himself.

I was puzzled by how Bauer and Robinson could justify these acts. I sat up, late into the night, until the (Republican) light bulb went off in my head.

It’s simple: These weren’t Republicans at all. They are Democrat-planted agents, insidiously injected into the Republican Party to take some of the heat off the fact everything immoral, illegal and unethical is done by Democrats. “Manchurian Candidates,” so to speak. It all makes sense, Larry.

Thank you and Mary for making things so simple. I now understand.
