Man allegedly runs over wife with car

A Hot Springs man was arrested Thursday morning after he allegedly ran over his wife with his car and kicked her.

Nelson Green Johnson III, 36, of 817 Sixth St., was taken into custody at his residence around 9 a.m. and charged with second-degree domestic battery, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Johnson appeared in Garland County District Court Friday morning via video and pleaded not guilty to the charge. He remained in custody in lieu of $5,000 bond and a felony review hearing is set for April 16 to determine if the case will be bound over to Garland County

Werst responded to a call in reference to a domestic battery at Johnson’s residence and made contact with the victim, Johnson’s wife, and two female witnesses.

Johnson’s wife reportedly said she and her husband were in the garage when an argument concerning money ensued and he punched her in the face.

She said she fell to the ground attempting to retrieve car keys from Johnson as he attempted to leave in a Dodge Durango. Johnson allegedly “accelerate­d straight towards her and ran over her legs and left hand.”

The Dodge reportedly struck the house and Johnson got out, walked over to his wife, who was laying on the ground, and allegedly began to kick her several times in the face.

A female witness reportedly yelled at Johnson and at that time he fled in the vehicle.

His wife was reportedly transporte­d to a hospital, due to her hand injury that reportedly required surgery.

Johnson’s wife also reportedly sustained a broken nose, a sprained ankle, bruising and laceration­s to her head, legs and face.
