Wolves have strong showing in first meet of ‘18 season
PEARCY — Haze Farmer advanced to the top five in the country after his pole vault performance Thursday at the TriLakes Invitational track meet at Wolf Stadium.
Farmer, whose previous best clearance was 16 feet 8.25 inches, improved to 17 feet 3 inches to win the event and earn a No. 5 ranking in the nation. The junior advanced to No. 2 on Lake Hamilton’s all-time best performance list behind Nic Johnson’s best of
17 feet 6.5 inches.
Farmer was also a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay team, along with Colby Swecker, Cody Weldon and Knowledge Hood. The team finished with a time of 3:32.2.
Hood and Swecker also won two additional events each. Hood won the 400-meter dash in 50.6 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 22.9 seconds.
Swecker claimed the
1,600-meter run in 4:45.1 and the
800-meter run in 1:59.9. Weldon took second in the 800-meter run with a finish of 2:03.6.
Ramon Morales earned a top finish in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:33.4, and he earned fifth in the 1,600 meter with a
5:07.4 finish. Christian Silvar earned second in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:17.0, and Neal Cole finished third in the event with an 11:18.3 finish.
Skylar Davis’s finish of 4:47.1 earned him second place in the
1,600-meter run, and he finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.4.
Dylan Stephens finished the
1,600-meter run in 4:57.2 to claim third place.
Michael Harris cleared 14 feet
6 inches in the pole vault to earn third place.
Adam Miller’s toss of 121 feet
2 inches won the discus throw while teammate Matthew Novak took third with a throw of 110 feet 1 inch.
Josie Carson continued her winning ways from the cross country season, claiming three top finishes in the meet. The senior crossed the finish line in the 800-meter run in 2:26.4 while fin-
ishing the 1,600-meter run in 5:31.3. She also joined Baylee Jenkins, Meighan Mears and Anacaron Ramos in the 4x400-meter relay to win the event with a time of x:xx.x.
Ramos took third in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:57.2, and Madison Mears finished the
3,200-meter run in 13:35.8 to claim second in the event.
Jenkins crossed the finish line in 65.7 seconds in the 400-meter dash to win the event.
Edie Murray won both the 200-meter dash and the pole vault at the meet. The junior cleared 12 feet 6 inches in the vault, and she ran the dash in
27.8 seconds.
