Drug raid leads to man’s arrest

A local man was arrested on multiple felony charges early Wednesday after Hot Springs police executed a search warrant on his residence and allegedly found drugs and a stolen firearm.

Marquise Lemont Steward, 19, also known as “Slick,” of 211 Windy Hill St., was taken into custody at his residence and charged with two counts of simultaneo­us possession of drugs and firearms, punishable by up to life in prison; unauthoriz­ed use of another person’s property, punishable by up to 20 years; possession of marijuana with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to 10 years; and theft by receiving and possession of drug parapherna­lia, each punishable by up to six years.

Steward remained in custody on zero bond and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, members of HSPD’s Special Investigat­ions Narcotics Division and SWAT executed a search warrant at the Windy Hill residence at around 6 a.m. Wednesday and located Stewart and one juvenile in the bedrooms inside.

During a search of the living room, officers allegedly found two sets of digital scales, a box of sandwich baggies and a package of hemp wraps on a table. On another table, officers found a baggie of pills and under the couch they found a bag with a green leafy substance that later tested positive for

6.66 ounces of marijuana.

In the bedroom, officers allegedly located a pair of jeans in the corner that contained a baggie with what later tested positive for

9 ounces of marijuana. Officers found a burned marijuana cigarette on the table next to the bed.

During a search of a white Dodge Charger investigat­ors found four brown packages containing 4.15 pounds of marijuana and a second baggie containing

1.6 ounces of marijuana. During a search of a brown Chrysler, investigat­ors found a handgun in the center console, that was reportedly found to be stolen out of Malvern. Officers also located a firearm in the trunk of the vehicle and a purple bag containing ammunition in the driver’s side door.
