JROTC cadet honored

-

The Lt. Samuel Cherry Chapter Daughters of the American Colonists awarded the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Medal and Certificate to Emma Nelson, Hot Springs High School JROTC cadet.

Nelson has excelled in her achievements and in 2017 received United States Daughters of 1812 medal. Graduating this year, she plans to continue her education.

The JROTC is a federal program sponsored by the United States Armed Forces in high schools across the United States and U.S. military bases across the world. Citizenship, leadership, character and community service are the core tenets of high school JROTC programs.

DAC honors cadets who have demonstrated qualities of academic excellence, leadership, military discipline, dependability, patriotism and upright character in speech and habits, which exemplify the ideals upon which this nation was founded and personally presents the awards to thousands of cadets across the nation.

The chapter has continued its commitment of recognizing worthy JROTC cadets in central Arkansas presenting the medals at 10 ceremonies scheduled during the months of April and May. Service organizations such as DAC honor cadets across the nation annually.
