Wilbo favored in Aristides

Chris Hartman, Oaklawn Park’s leading trainer in 2015, bids for another victory in the Grade 3 $100,000 Aristides Stakes Saturday at Churchill Downs with Wilbo, one of the top sprinters this year in Hot Springs.

Wilbo ran four times at Oaklawn, winning a Jan. 14 allowance race and the $125,000 King Cotton Stakes Feb. 3 before finishing fifth in the $125,000 Hot Springs Stakes March 10 and second in the Grade 3 $400,000 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap April 14.

Alsvid, the Hartman-trained millionair­e, ran second in the King Cotton before winning the Count Fleet and Aristides in 2015. In 2016, Alsvid ran second in King Cotton and Count Fleet before winning the Aristides.

Wilbo, the 9-5 program favorite, is scheduled to break from post 3 under David Cabrera and carry top weight of 122 pounds. Cabrera, Oaklawn’s second-leading rider this year, has never had a mount at Churchill Downs.

Also entered in the 6-furlong Aristides is Smart Spree, who won three races this year at Oaklawn before finishing fourth in the Count Fleet, and Oaklawn-raced Chief Cicatriz.

Probable post time for the Aristides, which goes as race 10, is 9:42 p.m.

Cabrera is also named on the Hartman-trained Fort Fortitude, a two-time allowance winner this year at Oaklawn, in the $75,000 Mighty Beau Overnight Stakes, a 5-furlong turf race that will be run immediatel­y following the Aristides. Oaklawn-raced millionair­e Hogy is another entrant.

Probable post time for the Mighty Beau Overnight is 10:10 p.m. Champion Unique Bella drew post 6 for the Grade 1 $400,000 Beholder Mile Stakes for fillies and mares Saturday across the country at at Santa Anita Park.

Probable post time for the Beholder Mile is 6:30 p.m. Unique Bella, the Eclipse Award-winning female sprinter of 2017, is coming off a troubled second in the Grade 1 $700,000 Apple Blossom Handicap April 13 at Oaklawn. It was Unique Bella’s first start outside California, and she broke sluggishly in the 1 1/16-mile race.

Champion Stellar Wind swept the Apple Blossom and Beholder Mile Stakes last year.

A number of other horses with experience at Oaklawn have been entered in races this weekend.

American Anthem, 10th as the favorite in the Grade 2

$900,000 Rebel Stakes for 3-year-olds last year at Oaklawn, is scheduled to make his 2018 debut in an allowance sprint today at Churchill Downs for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. Also entered in the 7-furlong race is Storm Advisory, winner of the

$125,000 King Cotton Stakes for older sprinters last year at Oaklawn. Probable post time for the eighth race is 3:22 p.m.

Oaklawn-raced 3-year-old Solomini — second in the Rebel and third in the Grade 1 $1 million Arkansas Derby on April 14 — is entered in an allowance race Saturday at Churchill Downs for Baffert. The 1 1/16-mile race would mark the first for Solomini since finishing 10th in the May 5 Kentucky Derby.

Also entered are Oaklawn maiden special weights graduate Tiz Our Turn and Limation, third, fourth and third in three maiden special weights races this year in Hot Springs. Probable post time for the ninth race is 9:11 p.m.

Oak lawn-raced Ms brooklyn brawler is the 9-5 program favorite for the $63,150 Bob Bryant Stakes for 3- year-old Iowa-bred female sprinters today at Prairie Meadows. Probable post time is 8:42 p.m.

Oaklawn allowance winner Recount is entered in the $75,000 Addison Cammack Memorial Handicap Saturday at Arlington Park. Probable post time for the 6-furlong race is 3:21 p.m.

Multiple Oaklawn starter-allowance winner Wings Locked Up is the 2-1 program favorite for the $50,000 Honor the Hero Stakes, a 5-furlong turf event Saturday at Canterbury Park. Probable post time is 4:15 p.m.

Oaklawn maiden special weights graduate and allowance winner Ray’swarrior is entered in the $200,000 Pennsylvan­ia Governor’s Cup Stakes Saturday at Penn National. Probable post time for the 5-furlong turf race is 6:10 p.m.
