Man sentenced to 6-year term for burglary
A Hot Springs man was sentenced to six years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty in Garland County Circuit Court to burglarizing a local car dealership last year.
Tyrel Austin McManigal, 23, who listed a Lemay Place address at the time of his arrest, pleaded guilty to a felony count of commercial burglary, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and was sentenced to six years and ordered to pay
$170 in court costs. His sentence is to run concurrent with the revocation of his probation from a 2013 conviction in Hempstead County.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Dec. 6, 2017, shortly after
3:30 a.m., Hot Springs police Officer Anthony Tart responded to an alarm at Riser Dodge,
4722 Central Ave., and upon arrival saw a white male inside the service department of the dealership.
Tart ordered the man, later identified as McManigal, to exit and took him into custody without incident.
A representative of Riser responded to the scene and told Tart he didn’t know McManigal and he shouldn’t have been in the building.
In searching McManigal, Tart located a pair of sunglasses, prescription pill bottle in the name of one of the service department employees, a handicap placard, four scratch-off tickets, two rope necklaces, a blank check, a digital camera, a flashlight and a Garland County Sheriff’s Department gas card.
The affidavit notes a sheriff ’s patrol unit was in the service bay at the time.
McManigal was later released on $3,500 bond. He pleaded not guilty to the charge on March 6 in circuit court and a court order barring him from contact with the dealership was issued. He was set to stand trial later this year but opted to plead guilty.
