HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — A Hot Springs Village woman was arrested early Wednesday after allegedly hitting her mother with a dog leash and attacking another female family member.

Angela Michelle Shores, 27, of 29 Santona Way, was taken into custody at her home just before 1 a.m. and charged with a felony count of third-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to six years in prison.

Shores was being held on zero bond and was set to appear Wednesday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Hot Springs Village Police Officer Eduardo Grajeda responded to the residence in reference to a disturbance and made contact with Shores’ mother, who said her daughter was “out of control.”

Her mother said that around 10 p.m. she and another family member got Shores in the bathroom to take a shower. As they were getting her into the shower they saw a small bag of suspected drugs fall out of her pocket.

She said that she grabbed the bag and flushed it down the toilet. She said her daughter finished her shower and was calming down, but then began to act up again and began yelling and running around the house naked.

She said her daughter got a dog leash and began hitting her with it, grabbed her arm and squeezed it hard, then began hitting the other relative. The officer noted a bruise and scratches on the mother’s left arm and above her elbow.

The other relative told the officer she saw Shores hitting her mother and attempted to get Shores to stop when she was also attacked. She said Shores started to shove her and slapped her in the face.

The woman said Shores put both hands around her neck and told her “she will be dead by the morning” and believed she was referring to her mother.

The officer noted the relative had scratches on her upper arm and a swollen right shoulder.

Shores was previously convicted in Garland County Circuit Court on July 18, 2017, of second-degree domestic battery involving an attack on her mother and sentenced to six years probation. Because of her prior conviction the charge filed against Shores Wednesday is classified as a felony.
