HSV Rotary honors Galloway with first Ross Johnson Award

-

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Each year as it begins the new Rotary year in July, the Rotary Club of Hot Springs Village honors club members who have earned recognition for their outstanding service. Award winners have made exceptional contributions to both the club and the community.

This year, a new award was presented. It honors Villager Ross W. Johnson, a longtime Rotarian who passed away last spring. Villager Pam Galloway won the very first Ross Johnson Award.

Linda Johnson, wife of the late Ross Johnson and herself a past president of HSV Rotary, said in the press release, “The Ross W. Johnson Award is presented to the Rotarian who has given many years of dedicated service in their particular field of service. Pam Galloway has been granting Rotary scholarships to deserving students for as long as I have been a member of Rotary, which is more than 10 years.” She added that Galloway was elected by unanimous vote. “Pam is a very caring and compassionate person,” Johnson said. “She deserved to be the award’s first recipient.”

In accepting the recognition, Galloway said, “This award means a lot to me. From the time I joined the club in 2002, Ross was a friend and mentor.”

Rotary membership is open to all men and women, with guests welcome at the Hot Springs Village club, which meets in the Fireside Dining Room at Good Sam’s, 121 Cortez Road, at 7 a.m. Thursdays.
