Jean Baim Gershner, 92, of Hot Springs, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2018.

She was born Sept. 29, 1925, in Pine Bluff, daughter of Leo and Annette Rutstein Baim.

Mrs. Gershner was raised and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. She attended Lindenwood College before graduating from the University of Missouri with a degree in journalism. She married Ira S. Gershner of Pine Bluff in 1947. Jean was a charter member of Garvan Woodland Gardens, served on the Levi Towers board for several years, and was active in Temple Anshe Emeth and Congregati­on House of Israel. She had many charitable interests including UAMS and CHI St. Vincent. She was an avid golfer and loved her home, gardening and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and sister, Delores Melton.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Ira B. Gershner, of Little Rock; daughter, Jan Woodhead, of Herndon, Va.; sister, Bobbie Simpson, of Pine Bluff; grandchild­ren, Jeffrey Woodhead, Joshua Gershner and Erin Parker; great-grandchild­ren, Selah Woodhead and Dorothy Stewart; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, in the chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son in Pine Bluff. Interment will be private. A reception will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday at Jean’s house in Hot Springs.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
