Gas work to close part of Lakeshore

The westbound lane of Lakeshore Drive, between Spruce Street and Village Road, will be closed Monday through Friday for gas main constructi­on.

Signs and flagmen will be present and motorists are asked to use caution in the work area.

Small Steps to Health offered at senior center

Small Steps to Health with Lindsey Rucker will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hot Springs Senior Center in its temporary location at The Warehouse, 301 Broadway St.

The Hot Springs center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The CHI St. Vincent McAuley Center, 5010 Highway 7 north, is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, serving area seniors aged 60 and older. Visitors and guests younger than 60 years old are welcome. Both are operated by CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs.

Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. No reservatio­n is required. A donation of $3.50 is suggested to help cover the member’s share of the meal cost at each center. Visitors younger than 60 are required to pay $6 for each meal. All carryout meals, regardless of age, are $6.

Blood drives planned during coming week

Arkansas Blood Institute will conduct blood drives at the following times and locations this week:

• Thursday — 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Baptist Health Medical Center’s rehab dining room, 1001 Schneider Lane, Malvern.

• Saturday — 10 a.m. to

2:30 p.m., bloodmobil­e at the Walmart in Malvern.

All donors will receive a “Go Hog Wild” T-shirt, a health screening, Donor Reward Points, a blood-type card and refreshmen­ts. Donors must be at least 16 years old. To schedule a donation, visit http://www. arkbi.org and click on “Find A Drive” or call Bob Woodall at

501-282-6072. Walk-ins are always welcome. Donors may also donate whole blood, double red cells, platelets or plasma at the Donor Center, 149 Section Line Road, Suite G, by calling 501624-0666. All donations support hospitals in Arkansas and donations can be credited to a patient in any hospital.

CSO summer assistance programs close Friday

The Community Services Office, 600 W. Grand Ave., will close the Summer Regular and Crisis Interventi­on programs on Friday.
