A Mountain Pine woman was arrested on a felony warrant Wednesday morning for allegedly stealing her 70-year-old neighbor’s debit card while he was in the hospital earlier this year.

Lori Jo Andrews, 47, of 228 Comet Lane, was taken into custody at her residence shortly before 10 a.m. and charged with theft by receiving of a debit-credit card, punishable by up to six years in prison. She remained in custody Thursday in lieu of $2,500 bond and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on June 30, the reported victim was at his home in the 200 block of Comet Lane when he became ill and had to be hospitalized at

Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

He reportedly had to be rushed to the hospital and left his wallet, which contained a debit card, at home.

The victim died on July 9 and never returned to his residence. During the time he was still in the hospital, his debit card was reportedly used multiple times at numerous locations in and around Hot Springs and Mountain Pine.

The victim’s estranged wife told Garland County sheriff’s investigators she suspected his neighbor, identified as Andrews, of taking and using the debit card. It was noted Andrews lived next door and had access to the victim’s house.

Jimmy Nobles contacted some of the various locations where the victim’s card was used and obtained video from Harps, 146 Thornton Ferry Road, of a transaction that occurred on July 2.

Nobles obtained a still photo of the woman using the card and matched it to a photo of Andrews from a previous, unrelated arrest. A warrant for Andrews arrest was later issued.
