Vegetarian Supper Club to meet Monday

-

Health educators Drs. Carlos and Kathy Irizarry will be guest presenters at the Vegetarian Supper Club, which meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the fellowship hall of the Hot Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church, 401 Weston Road.

The topic for the evening will be “The Advantages of a PlantBased Diet.” The Irizarrys practiced family medicine in Minden, La., for 25 years. They have since established the Ouachita Healthy Living Center in Amity, in association with Ouachita Hills Academy and College. Carlos Irizarry is both family practice certified and lifestyle medicine certified.

The Irizarrys hold periodic seven-day live-in sessions, where participants live a healthy lifestyle with them while at the same time hearing the hows and whys of healthy lifestyles, a news release said. Research confirms that the life span for those who choose plantbased diets is longer than average by seven to 11 years, and with much less disease and fewer health problems along the way, it said.

The Vegetarian Supper Club meets on the second Monday evening each month, except December. There is no meeting in December. It is open to all who are interested in a healthful lifestyle. A vegetarian supper is served before the evening program is presented. Participants are welcome to bring a vegetarian dish of their choosing with the recipe. Copies of the recipes submitted are prepared and mailed to all participants who bring a self-addressed envelope. There is no admission charge, and everyone interested in vegetarian cuisine is welcome to attend. First-timers are welcomed without bringing food.
