“We rely heavily on our transition offense to create points, but Fountain Lake’s guards took care of the ball and we missed six open floor layups,” said Lakeside coach Cody Lambert. “Lakeside also missed 12 free throws.

“That is something we have emphasized all year long. If we are going to play fast and physical, we have to be able to finish from the free throw line and at the rim, and tonight we didn’t. Defensively, we played well, forced tough shots without fouling and rebounded well.”

Lakeside opened its junior high tournament on Monday with a 50-38 win over Malvern. The junior Rams led, 17-2, after the first quarter, but the Cubs cut the lead to 35-28 by the start of the fourth quarter.

“We allowed Malvern to get back in the game a little bit, but we were tough. They are a good team that are really well coached. It was a fun environment.”

Harris led the way again with

15 points. Taevon Johnson scored

12 points and Jamison Craig added 10.
