James Earl Rowton, age 80, of Hot Springs, passed away on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018.

He was born on Nov. 30, 1938, in Norman, the son of Garland James Rowton and Bessie Virginia Hopson Rowton. On June 9, 1961, he was married to Bonnie Lou Hill Rowton, who preceded him in death on Aug. 3, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of Garland County Fox Hunter’s Associatio­n, Lake Ouachita Fox Hunter’s Associatio­n and the Bobo Hunting Club.

He is survived by two sons, Terry Rowton and his wife, Jennifer, and David Rowton; two daughters, Tina Rowton and Lisa Slick and her husband, Eddy; seven grandchild­ren, Grace Slick, Clay Slick, Eli Rowton, Sierra Rowton, Ethan Sutton, Shena Sanders and Nathan Sanders; two great-grandchild­ren, Hunter Denton and Axel Sanders; and his brother, William Cleo “Cedar” Rowton.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Dec. 13, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel, Hot Springs, with Brother Jimmy Scott and Brother Gilbert Hawthorn officiatin­g.

Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Gaston Cemetery, near Mount Ida, under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Brother Billy Blackmon and the staff of Dierksen Hospice and the nurses and staff of Village Springs Nursing Home.
