Northwoods to co-sponsor bike demonstrations
The Northwoods Trail System will co-sponsor a demonstration of Pivot Cycles bicycles at 10 a.m. Feb. 2.
The demonstration, which will feature a range of Pivot Cycles bikes, will be offered until 4 p.m. at the Northwoods Trailhead on Pineland Drive, according to a news release.
“This is an exciting time for our newly opened Northwoods system, and we’re pleased to host in cooperation with Parkside Cycle a team from Pivot Cycles that will provide demonstrations of a wide variety of bikes for riders to try out,” Traci Berry, trails coordinator for Visit Hot Springs, said in the release.
The Pivot Cycles team will be demonstrating the Tempe, Arizona, Firebird 29, Firebird, Switchblade,
Trail 429, Mach 4, Mach 5.5, Mach 6 and Mach 429 SL bicycles.
Riders are asked to bring helmets, photo identification and a credit card to the demo events. Riders younger than 16 will need a parent or legal guardian to attend to sign for them.
The demo team will have Shimano, Crank Brothers, Time and DMR Vault platform pedals, but riders are free to bring their own pedals.
Demonstration ride times are typically one hour per bike, but may vary depending on the event.
Parkside Cycle and Ouachita Rides and Guides will offer shuttles to and from Cedar Glades Park on Wildcat Road because of limited parking at the Northwoods Trailhead. Riders may also park at Cedar Glades and ride to the demo. Trail system personnel will secure bikes while riders take the demonstration.
Should the Northwoods Trails be closed due to wet conditions, demonstrations will be moved to Cedar Glades Park, the release said.
Visit Hot Springs began construction in November 2017 on Phase One of the trail system and a grand opening ceremony in November 2018 signaled the opening of the first segment.
Phase Two of the trail system will result in a 44.6-mile system of first-class biking trails on the property that incorporates pristine forested hills and three lakes, the release said.
