The CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs Total Joint Replacement Program has officially earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement, making it the first organization in Hot Springs to earn that certification, a news release said.

The advanced certification recognizes the efforts made by CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs’ Orthopedic Service Line to continually elevate the quality, consistency and safety of their services and patient care, the release said.

“At CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs, we are committed to patient-centered care in the safest and most efficient manner possible,” said Dr. Douglas Ross, chief medical officer at CHI St. Vincent. “We’re honored to see that ongoing ministry reflected in this certification and look forward to consistently improving quality of care for the increasing number of patients undergoing total hip or total knee replacement surgery in southwest Arkansas.”

The Joint Replacement Program at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs underwent a rigorous on-site review to evaluate compliance with advanced disease-specific care standards and total hip and total knee replacement requirements, including orthopedic consultation and preoperative, intraoperative and post-surgical orthopedic surgeon follow-up care. The advanced certification from The Joint Commission, one of the premier health care quality improvement and accrediting bodies in the nation, is awarded for a two-year period, the release said.
