Hope Movement to celebrate graduate at LakePointe

-

The Hope Movement will celebrate the graduation of Jessica Staton from its program at LakePointe City Church, 1343 Albert Pike Road, at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday.

Staton “went above and beyond” during the eight month program and her graduation could not have taken place without the support of the community, Desiree Skeya, Hope Movement director, said in a release.

Staton completed the Getting Ahead program, sponsored by Cooperative Christian Ministries and Clinic, Faith and Finance, Anger Management, Cooking and Nutrition, sponsored by Crossgate and St. Mary of the Springs Catholic Church, and other community volunteers “who have poured into the young lady’s life,” Skeya said.

Staton obtained her driver’s license, her GED and reunited with her children. The Hope Movement is a six- to 12-month transition program for women in addiction who “would like to learn to live a life centered in Christ’s love as well as obtain tools needed to succeed after addiction,” the release said.
