USD 1812 recognizes JROTC/ROTC Ambassadors

-

The Arkansas Society United States Daughters of 1812 recognized 22 members who have traveled, in some cases, many miles in order to personally celebrate the achievements of JROTC and ROTC cadets during its 105th State Council.

The ladies, called Ambassadors, personally present certificates and medals to cadets who have demonstrated qualities of academic excellence, leadership, military discipline, dependability, patriotism and upright character in speech and habits that exemplify the ideals upon which the nation was founded, a news release said.

U.S.D. 1812 personally presents the certificates and medals to thousands of cadets across the nation.

The cadets are chosen at the beginning of the year by their school JROTC or ROTC leader and are presented the awards in the spring. Some schools hold formal events and dinners to emphasize the special achievements of the cadets.

The JROTC is a federal program sponsored by the United States armed forces in high schools across the United States and United States military bases across the world. Citizenship, leadership, character and community service are the core tenets of high school JROTC programs. ROTC is also sponsored by the federal government at colleges and universities, the release said.

U.S.D. 1812 continues its commitment of recognizing worthy JROTC cadets in central Arkansas presenting the medals at 10 ceremonies scheduled during the months of April and May. Service organizations such as U.S.D. 1812 honor cadets across the nation annually.
