Second suspect in fatal shooting arrested Sunday
The second of two suspects sought in connection with a double shooting on Mother’s Day that resulted in one local man’s death was arrested Sunday evening in Benton.

III, 18, of Malvern, was taken into custody around 5:30 p.m.
Sunday in the 3900 block of
Sandra Lane in Benton on felony warrants for first-degree murder and terroristic act, each punishable by up to life in prison, and first-degree battery, punishable by up to 20 years, for the May
12 shooting that claimed the life of Donyell King, 23, and seriously injured his father, Donald King, 50,
during an altercation outside a residence on Lily Ruth Court.
His alleged accomplice, Kaylen Dantrell Damion Burks, 23, also of Malvern, was arrested shortly before noon Friday in Malvern at the probation office on West Page Street and charged as an accomplice with the same counts as Woodfork, who is believed to be the actual shooter.
Both Woodfork and Burks remained in custody Monday on zero bond and are set to appear May 28 in Garland County District Court. The probable cause affidavits for both suspects have reportedly been sealed in the case so what evidence led to the arrest of the two men is unknown.
According to earlier reports, officers responded to the 100 block of Lily Ruth Court at 11:47 p.m. on May 12 regarding a shots fired call and located both victims with gunshot wounds.
The Kings were transported to a local hospital for treatment where Donyell King died of his injuries a short time later. Donald King was listed in serious condition earlier this week.
Cpl. Joey Williams had said in an earlier news release that detectives were following up on multiple leads in the case. After Burks’ arrest, police had posted a photo of Woodfork on social media seeking information on his whereabouts with the warning he was to be considered “armed and dangerous.”
