Rotarians sponsor food drive
The Rotary Club of North Garland County/ Scenic 7 is tackling food insecurity in the county this month, according to club President Liz Mathis.
The club has partnered with Arkansas Blessing Boxes and four local businesses and is sponsoring a food drive through the end of the month.
Nonperishable food items may be dropped off in special bins at all five locations of Relyance Bank in Garland County and in north Garland County at ABI Insurance, 4565 Highway 7, Suite 8; Kennedy & Company, 4658 Highway 7; and CLW Computer Solutions, 3638 Highway 7.
The items collected will be stored in a central area and distributed to each of the eight Blessing Boxes in the county as needed.
The motto of Blessing Boxes is “Take What You Need. Leave What You Can.” “Blessing Boxes are an informal ‘neighbor helping neighbor’ effort. Why? According to the Scenic 7 Facebook page, because ‘There but for the grace of God go I,’” a news release said.
Scenic 7 Rotary Club meets at Charlie’s Pizza Pub on Thursdays. Visitors are always welcome. Call Amanda Kennedy at 501-922-0227 for more information.
