Earth Angel
The Clean, Attractive Property Service is provided by the Solid Waste Department to city residents who wish to dispose of large bulky items such as couches, mattresses, furniture, brush and appliances such as washers and dryers, refrigerators, freezers and water heaters.
Residents may have two free collections per year, each weighing up to one ton. There is a $20 charge for each additional collection after that.
Items scheduled for pickup must be placed curbside by 6 a.m. There needs at least 20 feet of overhead clearance for safe operation of the equipment.
Pickup days are:
• Monday and Thursday — Brush, which cannot be mixed with trash, wood, paper, cans, bottles, or wire. CAPS picks up brush and grinds it to be recycled into compost. Brush must be cut to 6 feet or less in length and cannot be larger than 24 inches in diameter.
• Tuesday and Friday — Miscellaneous items, which cannot be mixed with household garbage, plastic bags, cardboard, paint, batteries or tires. CAPS picks up miscellaneous items such as couches, mattresses, furniture, wood and building materials.
• Wednesday — Metal, which cannot be placed under low power lines or tree limbs. Remove old food from refrigerators and freezers. CAPS picks up items including dishwashers, washers, dryers, refrigerators, water heaters and metal items only. To schedule a CAPS pickup, call 501-321-6921.
