James T. Anderson

-

James T. Anderson, 89 of Hot Springs Village, Ark., passed away on Oct. 17, 2019. He was born on Nov. 28, 1929, in Deerpark, Ohio, to Comer Clark and Cleora Mildred (Garrison) Anderson.

Jim had only to enter a room and a kind of expectant, reverential quiet filled the space. A husband of 67 years he was a fiercely devoted companion. Expressing his love through adoration and respect, each as fervent as the other. As a father, Jim was without show, fanfare, or explanation. A constant and unimpeachable example, educator and provider, his children embraced Jim’s principles as their own, understanding that his only motivation was his love for them.

He spent his career working in management serving the aircraft engine industry. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hot Springs Village. Jim was a true Renaissance man who was equally at home whether on horseback or in the boardroom of Rolls Royce, his last professional career post.

Jim was an outdoorsman whose passions included golf, fly fishing, pheasant and quail hunting, polo, cross country snow skiing and flying his Cessna 150. Although not too long ago, he admitted he never soloed and gave up that pursuit after an incident in which he scared both himself and his instructor.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and his wife of 67 years, Patricia Ruth Anderson. Survivors include his sons, James Taylor Anderson Jr. (Carol), of Claremore, Okla., and Daniel Patrick Anderson (Julie), of Tulsa, Okla.; daughters, Debora Lee Prest (Frank Joseph), of Shreveport, La., and Kimberly Celest Butcher (William Ray), of Sand Springs, Okla.; six grandchildren, Ryan Taylor Anderson, Allie Celeste Prest, Garrett Taylor Prest, Andrea Celest Gentis and Corryn Ainsley Willey (Jon); and two great-grandchildren, Keaton and Riley Anderson.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, Rosary at 10:30 a.m., Mass immediately following at 11 a.m. with Father Bill Elser officiating at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hot Springs Village, Ark.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to the Diocese of Little Rock Seminarian Burse in the name of James and Patricia Anderson 2500 North Tyler St., Little Rock, Arkansas 72207.
