The Earth Angel Recycling Program is the city’s curbside recycling service. It is provided free of charge as part of the services provided by the Solid Waste Department. Recycling is the best way to protect the environmen­t from overburden­ed landfills while reducing costs. By taking part in the Earth Angel Recycling Program, citizens have the opportunit­y to help ensure a healthy future for their community.

The Earth Angel truck collects the following materials: aluminum cans; brown paper grocery bags; corrugated cardboard; plastic, grades No. 1 and No. 2.; newsprint; telephone books; and leaves, grass and small brush.

The city will furnish the container and a calendar of scheduled collection days. The container should be placed curbside prior to

6 a.m. for pickup. Call 321-6911 to get involved.

Last week, the Earth Angels of Hot Springs recycled a total of

65.34 tons of materials, including the following:

• 137 pounds — Aluminum cans.

• 2,712 pounds — Newspaper.

• 780 pounds — Corrugated cardboard.

• 538 pounds — Plastic, grades No. 1 and No. 2.

• 51,720 pounds — Yard waste and C.A.P.S.

• 74,800 pounds — Commercial cardboard collection.

• Saturday — Whittingto­n/Quapaw-Prospect.

• Monday — Jaycee Park/Oaklawn-Henderson.

• Tuesday — Richard/Airport-Family Park.

• Wednesday — Grove/Files Road-Higdon Ferry.

• Thursday — McCauley-Greenwood.

• Friday, Dec. 6 — Hobson-Plain.
