Dr. Leona D. Lawson was born in Louann, Ark., on April

6, 1927, and died Nov. 28, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Dunn and Carrie Scott Dunn. Dr. Lawson was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Raymond W. Lawson; a son, Daniel Warren Doss; three sisters, Bernice Robinson, Glendene Stafford and Clara Anding; and three brothers, Raymond Dunn, Bernard Dunn and Edward E. Dunn.

Dr. Lawson is survived by son Rick Doss and his wife, Paula Blaylock Doss; granddaugh­ter, Jennifer Lynette Doss; and great-grandson, Noble Doss; as well as grandson, Jacob Everett Doss and his wife, Larissa; and grandsons, Nathaniel Doss and Greyson Doss.

Dr. Lawson was an ordained Unity minister and had served as interim minister at Christway Unity Church in Hot Springs. She was also an educator and taught school for 25 years. She held graduate degrees in Special Education from UCA in Conway, a Counseling degree from Henderson State University, and a Doctor of Divinity degree from Emerson Institute in Oakhurst, Wash. She was a supervisor of Education Interns at Henderson State University. She retired from the Hot Springs School District as Classroom Teacher Consultant for Special Services in 1994.

Dr. Lawson also owned and managed a ladies’ health Salon — Figurama — for seven years in Hot Springs. Figurama, at that time, was a pioneering, woman-owned health facility.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3,
