Tommy Barton, 77, of Hot Springs, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2020, with his wife and daughter by his side.

He was born Thomas Barton, to the late Ruby and Ira Barton. He was predecease­d by his parents and two brothers, Joe Barton and Milton Barton.

He graduated from Pine Bluff High School and attended Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA) and Arkansas A&M (UAM). Tommy was a member of Phi Lambda Chi fraternity. Tommy married his high school sweetheart, Robin, and they were the loving parents of their daughter, Ashlynn.

Tommy began his career at the ground floor of informatio­n technology. He enjoyed his work and excelled in the field, rising to upper management for informatio­n systems before his retirement from Simmons Bank.

Not only a devoted and beloved husband, father and grandfathe­r, he served his community well. As part of the Jefferson County Literacy Council, Tommy taught adult students to read. His outstandin­g commitment and contributi­ons to the organizati­on were acknowledg­ed with awards. Tom was a faithful member of Grace Episcopal Church and served on the vestry and as senior warden. He was a member of the Pine Bluff Kiwanis Club, and also served both Jefferson and Garland County election commission­s.

A lover of music, he appreciate­d many genres and was also an avid reader. He loved his dogs and was a vintage car enthusiast, and enjoyed boating with his family and friends on Lake Hamilton. Tommy was also a three-time cancer survivor.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Robin, his daughter, Ashlynn, her husband, Mike, two grandsons, Cameron and Kyle, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Hot Springs, Ark.

A celebratio­n of Tommy’s life will be announced at a later date.
