Mae Lorraine Emery, age

87, was reunited with her husband, Lindy, in Heaven above on March 17, 2020.

Lorraine was born at her parents’ farmhouse on Aug. 12,

1932, in Red Willow County, Neb. She grew up experiencing the old-fashion farm life, with a variety of livestock, chickens, daily chores and even had her own pony. She attended a small country school house with all grades taught in a single room and teacher. She later graduated from Kearney State College in Nebraska with an Administrative Business degree.

On Sept. 8, 1953, Lorraine was married to Lindy and their union lasted for over 61 years, until his passing on Jan. 26,

2015.

Lorraine was a homemaker, great cook/baker, seamstress and gardening expert. Once she discovered your favorite dish or dessert, you could count on her preparing that upon your visit. Early on as the family grew, she sewed stylish pieces of clothing and mended others to help supplement the budget. Also baby quilts were specially made for each of her grandchildren. She regularly attended, volunteered at church and lead a true Christian life. She also was a Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout den mother. One of her strongest passions was to support voting rights, serving for 40-plus years on the election board and working local elections sites.

She truly was a very special and unique individual. She always had positive things to say about everyone and avoided criticizing. No matter what the situation, you could count on her to have the right choice of words.

Those left behind to cherish her memories are her daughter, Janeen Boettger and husband Tim, of Hot Springs; her son, Bob Emery and wife Kim, of Decatur, Texas; and her daughter, Linda Skeet (Nov.

6, 1957, through May 24, 2020) and husband Allan, of Whitesboro, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Lindsay, Allison, Brock, Brooklyn, Bret, April, Amy, Holly, Summer and Mandy;

12 great-grandchildren, Abe, Norah, Maddi, Myla, Malayna, Robby, Everett, Eastyn, Harper, Sawyer, Addalyn and Eli.

Due to the difficult times with COVID-19 and safety considerations, a video tribute in lieu of a funeral service is being assembled. An electronic version will be distributed to all family and friends. Lorraine and Lindy had chosen Rose Hill Cemetery in Stratton, Neb., for their final resting place. A very small private graveside service will be held honoring that request at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 29, 2020.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
