Stanley J. Dubriske Jr.
Lt Col (USAF Retired) Stanley J. Dubriske, Jr., age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020. He was born in Bellows Falls, Vt., on Feb. 25,
1933.
Lt Col Dubriske enlisted in the United States Air Force in
1951, and was commissioned as an officer in 1954. Over his 21 years of service, he was rated as a command pilot and qualified as an instructor pilot in six different aircraft, including the
KC-135 and C-130. Lt Colonel Dubriske served three tours in Vietnam, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross while serving as a rescue crew commander during an evacuation of military personnel from a base in Laos about to be overrun by hostile forces. Lt Col Dubriske controlled over 50 aircraft during the operation and personally performed multiple inflight refueling of rescue helicopters over hostile and mountainous terrain, resulting in over 70 personnel being saved from certain capture.
After retirement from the Air Force, Lt Col Dubriske attended Henderson State University and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He had a private tax and accounting practice in Hot Springs for over
35 years.
Lt Col Dubriske was an accomplished golfer, recognized as the club champion at Hot Springs Village and Diamondhead Country Club on multiple occasions over three decades. He also held the course record at Diamondhead for several years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn Dubriske; along with three children, Steven (Regina) Dubriske, Susan (Bradford) Mace and David (Alysia) Dubriske. He also cherished his five grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jeremy and Andrew Dubriske, and Hayden and Evan Mace.
Interment will be in the Arkansas Veteran’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a military charity of your choice or Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 109 Hobson Avenue, Hot Springs, Ark., 71901.
