Cleo T. Smith

-

Cleo T. Smith, of Hot Springs, at the age of 95, traded in his earthly vessel for a glorious body without pain or suffering on Friday, Oct. 16, 2020.

He was born on May 24, 1925, in Story, the son of E. P. Smith and Laura Ritchie Smith. On May 27, 1950, he married Willa Dene Brooks, who preceded him in death and are now reunited. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Milbie Smith; and four brothers, Wilburn Smith, Clifton Smith, Clyde Smith and U.R. Smith.

He was a member of the Rock Creek Family Church, and worked for Valley Glass for many years before starting Discount Glass, from which he retired. Cleo was a faithful and hardworking man of God who most often found his treasure in family as well as things above. His love and devotion to Jesus, family and church always came out in works as much as words. He showed us that faith supported by works will make for a tremendously blessed life rich with Godly possessions.

We all enjoyed the fruits of his labor. Whether it was from his “little” garden, his ability to pinch a penny, or to fix something with a little wire, duct tape and many different colors of spray paint. What we enjoyed and will miss most of all is the strength of his faith-filled heart.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Don and Kaye Smith, of Hot Springs, and Darrell Smith and Clay and Kay Smith, all of Royal; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bruce Furgerson, of Hot Springs; seven grandchildren, Justy and Stephanie Smith, Jamie and Whitney Smith, Shelby Smith, Lance and Robyn Smith, Kyle and Jessica Smith, Terra and Sam Goodin and Jason and Sara Furgerson; 15 great- grandchildren; sister, Ila Faye Caldwell, of Mount Ida; numerous nieces; nephews; extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday, October 20, 2020, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Brother Justy Smith, Brother Jason Furgerson and Brother Mike Smith officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p. m. Monday at the funeral home.

Social distancing directives will be in place — 100 or less at a time in chapel, face covering must be worn.

Pallbearers will be Lance Smith, Kyle Smith, Jamie Smith, Brycen Furgerson, Noah Furgerson and Andrew Goodin.
