SEARCY — Vernon “Curley” Wallace, of Searcy, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 8, 2020.

Mr. Wallace was a Navy World War II veteran. He lived in El Cajon and San Diego, Calif., for 42 years. He retired in

1989 as a chef for Oscars, Roadside Bar-B-Que, Charcoal House and the Alpine Inn. After retiring, he moved to Hot Springs in 1991, and to Searcy, Ark., in

2006. Born in Crystal Springs, Ark., Oct. 26, 1927, to Hilda and John Wallace, he was one of nine children.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Dell Wallace (Tribble), of 52 years; son, Robert E. Wallace; parents, John and Hilda Wallace; sisters, Idela M. Wallace, Pauline Berry; and brothers, Jeff, James, Lloyd and Ray Wallace.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Evelyn J. Ford-Wallace; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Tom Gorham; son and daughter-in-law, Vernon Wayne and Elaine Wallace; grandchild­ren, Tim and Erika Gorham, Mary and Travis Hill, Troy Wallace, Brooke and Jose Gonzales, Jon and Mandy Wallace and Emily and Zach Bunnell; 14 great- grandchild­ren; two great-great-grandchild­ren; stepchildr­en, Cathy and Bill Ivey, Gayle and Tom Bucker, Harold and Debbie Ford; and siblings, Linda Woeppel, Paul Wallace and Kate and Jim Whitely.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs. Burial will be in Lowe Cemetery in Royal, Ark.
