HSMC switches to virtual performance

-

The Hot Springs Music Club, which originally had a live performance scheduled for the month of October, has switched to its first virtual performance due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

The program can be found on the Music Club website at http:// hotspringsmusicclub. com, on the club’s Facebook page, and on its YouTube channel under Hot Springs Music Club.

The program opens with a duet, “The Cry of a Flute” by Quinto Maganini, performed by club President Jackie Flowers, flute, and Robin Williams, soprano. Kristen La Madrid, piano, and Kristen Bomberger, violin, present three selections of Philippine Folk Songs: “Hating Gabi” by Antonio Molina and “Kundiman” and “Cavatina” by Nicanor Abelardo, a news release said.

La Madrid joins Williams and Flowers for a trio performance of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” by Richard Rogers and the program ends with a rousing organ selection by Kay Provus “Now Thank We All Our God” by Karg-Elert.

“The Music Club wishes to thank Westminster Presbyterian Church for the use of their sanctuary,” the release said. The program was recorded on Oct. 13.

The Hot Springs Music Club was formed in 1951 in order to promote the musical culture of its members and to foster in the community an increased knowledge and love of good music, the release said. The club is a member of the National and Arkansas Federation of Music Clubs.
