Texas D. R. Myers
Texas “Tex” Douglas Ryan Myers went home to our Lord,
Dec. 4, 2020, at the age of 75 in Hot Springs, Ark. Texas was born in 1945 in Victoria, Texas to parents W.W. “Jimmie” Myers and Loyce Wheatley Myers.
After WWII, he was raised in Hot Springs and made it his lifelong home. He was the loving and faithful husband of Judy Oliver Myers for 52 years, proud father of Ryan and Douglas, and grandfather who dearly loved Peyton and Sloane Myers.
Texas was predeceased by his parents and grandparents, Henry Ervin and Dolly Arman Wheatley and George Newton and Catherine McMenis Myers. Tex was a graduate of Hot Springs High School and received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and engineering in 1967 from Henderson State University. He then served in the US Air National
Guard as an electronic technician.
He succeeded his father as owner of Myers Supply, Inc. and was an active leader in local, state and national organizations, including: co-founder of Hot Springs Executive Association, member of Little Rock Executive Association, and state representative of the National Street Rod Association, from which he received many national awards. He owned the 8 Ball Racing Team where he was a passionate and supportive member on the dirt track ovals of Arkansas and other states. Tex earned the 2020 Mod Lite Points championship at Diamond Park Speedway. Tex was a master fabricator and mechanical engineer.
Tex is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Ryan and wife,
Meagan Brackin Myers, Douglas; grandchildren Peyton and Sloane; loving brothers, Jimmy and wife, Connie of Hot Springs, Ark., and Robert and wife, Donna of Haslet, Texas; and many loving nieces and nephews and cousins.
He will rest in the Memorial Gardens, Hot Springs, Ark. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the children’s program of your church. Pallbearers are Jason Crawley, Phillip Dickson, Doyle Miller, Scott Miller, Chet Johnson and John King. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Myers, Robert Myers, David Oliver, Robert Oliver, Tolbert J. Housley, Charles Chapmond, Marvin Watts, Jerry Shirley, Richard Vickers, and the compassionate staff of St Vincent’s CHI ICU unit. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be a private graveside service for the family. The family wants to thank you for all your prayers and support during this time of great loss.
