Schevaun Robinson Massey,

88, of Hot Springs, Ark., died on Feb. 23, 2021.

She was born in Rawlins, Wyo., to the late James and Elizabeth Mahoney Massey on April

28, 1932. They were a pioneer family with strong Irish Catholic roots. Schevaun worked summers on the family ranch and graduated from St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Ind.

Schevaun met the love of her life — Billie James Massey — when he was a new USAF pilot, and she was a school teacher. They married June 10, 1957. Schevaun joined Billie wherever he was stationed. They moved the family around the world — from Colorado to California, from the Philippines to Germany, then back to Texas, finally retiring in Hot Springs.

Schevaun will be remembered as a woman who knew how to make an entrance. She was a strong woman with a soft heart, one who expressed her opinions and stood by her values. A talented musician and painter, Schevaun’s greatest accomplishment was always being the stable and loving foundation for her family.

Schevaun was preceded in death by two brothers, John Robinson O.S.B. and Tim Robinson.

She is survived by her loving husband, Billie; her children John Massey (Joni), of Hot Springs, Ark., Margaret Campbell, of Arlington, Texas, Hanora “Nonie” Lay (Stuart), of Hot Springs, Ark., and James Massey (Lezlie) of Anacortes, Wash.; and her sister, Hanora Ferris. Schevaun is loved by eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held in May.

Donations can be made in her memory to her brothers’ mission work: SOLT, (for Belize Mission, John Paul II College) P.O. Box 4116, Corpus Christi, TX 78469.
