Roger F. Carter

-

Roger Frank Carter, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away on Feb. 23, 2021. He was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Ozark, Ark., to Roger Garland and Veda (Baker) Carter. Reared in Ozark by a loving family, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville provided him with a degree in electrical engineering and a life-long passion for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Roger was married to the love of his life, Jeanie Dolan Carter, for 49 years. They attended every Razorback game they possibly could, loving football and basketball especially. Intrepid adventurers, they traveled far and wide, as a couple and with cherished friends.

Aluminum Arts, Inc. was the business Roger owned in

Hot Springs for 49 years. We would not be surprised if, upon arriving at the Pearly Gates, he gave St. Peter an estimate for replacing them with a new, improved electric version built by Aluminum Arts.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanie Carter; son-in-law, Joe Groover; and brother, Alan Ray Carter.

He is survived by daughter, Dawn Groover; son, Roger Alan Carter (Tammy); grandchildren, Justin Carter (Chantal), Jena McNeill, Peyton Carter, Riley Groover (Brooke) and Will Groover; his beloved sister, Helen Carter; niece, Sandy McCauley; and nephews, Jeff, Chris and Len Pitcock. His dearest friend and devoted caregiver, Pauline Young, put joy in his heart everyday.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private service will be held at St Luke’s Episcopal church on March 3, 2021. A celebration of Roger’s life will be held from 1-3 p.m. on March 13, 2021, at Caruth-Hale Life Celebration Center, 2529 Airport Rd., Hot Springs, with visits welcomed for all who would like to drop by. COVID restrictions will be observed.

St Luke’s Episcopal Church was Roger and Jeanie’s church home since 1966. A thank you to our dear church family for the love and support provided to our parents these many years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Luke’s Outreach Ministry, in which Roger participated in his own unique and generous way.

Roger loved being with people and hearing their stories. He never turned down an invitation to a picnic or a party. He’s sitting next to “my pretty little red-headed wife” right now and they are having the best time catching up!
