Taking sides on relief bill
Dear editor:
Sen. Rick Scott of Florida suggested the governor reject the money for the states in this bill and DeSantis isn’t having it. I would also like to suggest that Arkansas reject this money since both of our Republican senators, John Boozman and Tom Cotton voted against it, as did 4th District Rep. Bruce Westerman and, I believe, according to our local news here, that the other three Republican representatives also voted against it in the House.
No surprise to me, as Republicans oppose everything, regardless of what it is, that the Democrats propose and always have. Especially with President Obama and most Democratic presidents prior, even if their vote is in opposition to a majority what they or their constituents want.
They showed how far they would go when bucking against huge opposition in Arkansas to their plot to repeal and replace the ACA when they had no replacement plan. They backed off but sneakily inserted language into budgets that undermined
the ACA and then 20 Republican state AGs, including Arkansas Attorney General Rutledge, joined together in legislation to declare the ACA unconstitutional, again, and former President Trump testified before the Supreme Court in 2020 pushing to kill the ACA but hold off on their decision until after the election.
So far we have not heard their decision, but I think I have a 100% shot at correctly guessing that they will kill our health care law and for that, you can thank the Republican Party. Judith Zitko Hot Springs Village
