Statements For the Home

-

So who can believe it was 10 degrees a few weeks ago and now it’s 70? Well, all of us. We live in Arkansas. It’s almost expected. Although, no one really saw that 15 inches of snow coming.

Hopefully, we are moving into spring and warmer temps which gives us that itch to create, to decorate, to try new things. We have been creating and reimagining a lot over at Statements. Let’s talk about some of those things that are new and fresh and get our creative juices flowing. Here are some design trends that we are seeing and loving right now.

1. Burlwood — Give us all of the burl wood. We are seeing it in modern pieces, traditional pieces and rustic applications. Worlds Away has an amazing burl wood coffee table that would look good in any room.

2. Wallpaper — We love it and we want it everywhere! Designers are using bold

patterns with lots of color right now. Powder baths are our favorite rooms to wallpaper but check out this beauty by Schumacher used in a bedroom.

3. Tape trim — We use it on drapery and throw pillows and sofas….you name it. It gives upholstery and drapery a finished tailored look without being too fussy. Here is an example of one of our favorite blue and linen looks.

I always like to end a “trend” article with this. Although trends are new and fresh, buy what YOU like and use your beautiful heirlooms and pieces that have special meaning. A house should be a home and not a showroom. Happy spring and happy decorating!
