Died: Aug. 28, 2020 WHELEN SPRINGS — Preceded in death by parents, Irwin J. Campbell and Doris Clovita Campbell of Star City, Ark., and Whelen Springs, Ark. Also, loving wife, May Irene Campbell.

Survived by: daughters, Jessie Larson of Malvern, Ark., Linda Jillson of Florida; sons: David and Samuel Woodall of Florida, Donnie Woodall of Hot Springs, Ark.; and two sisters, unknown; nine grandchild­ren, 21 great-grandchild­ren, seven great-great-grandchild­ren.

He was a Vietnam veteran, a sharpshoot­er and a mechanic. He retired from Reynolds Metals of Hot Springs, Ark., and Tampa, Fla.

Graveside services will be held at Cutter Morning Star Cemetery, Hot Springs, Ark., at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 18.

Survived by daughters: Jessie Larson of Malvern, Ark., Linda Jillson of Florida; sons: David and Samuel Woodall of Florida, Donnie Woodall of Hot Springs, Ark.; brother: Willie Self of Hot Springs, Ark.; nine grandchild­ren, 21 great-grandchild­ren and seven great-great-grandchild­ren.

She retired from United Technologi­es of Tampa, Fla. She was a homemaker, and was of the Pentecosta­l faith.

Graveside services will be held at Cutter Morning Star Cemetery, Hot Springs, Ark., at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 18.

Brian L. Deming, age 60, of Norman/Hot Springs, Ark., passed away on April 4, 2021.

He was born April 21, 1932, in Newark, Ark., to Edgar and Letha Dugger.

Jimmy was a loving husband, father and grandfathe­r. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He and his wife, Mary, are longtime members of Lakeside Baptist Church. Together they ran the food pantry for over 15 years. Jimmy loved the outdoors, fishing, reading and his dogs. He was known as a Mr. Fix-it and could fix anything. “The impossible only takes a little longer.”

Jimmy worked for and retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 28 years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Mary Dugger; daughters: Rhonda Yates and life partner, Phil Dickson, and Rita Courtney and her husband, Robert; grandchild­ren: Aaron Yates and wife, Stephanie, Kaylea Courtney, and Charity Courtney; great-grandson, Dylan Yates; brother, Ben Dugger and wife, Rose; sisters: Cynthia Johnson and husband, Ewell, and Pat Sheffield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lanay Mitchell.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Pinecrest Funeral Home, Alexander. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

John “Burr” Plyler, 88, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away April 4, 2021.

of Hot Springs departed this life and entered heaven on April 2, 2021, after a brief battle with meningitis.

She was born Sept. 10, 1944, in Long Beach, Calif., to the late Young B. Thornton and Aleene Hall Thornton.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 58 years, John Boyd Robbins; son, J. Kelly Robbins (Vickie), and daughter, Emma Caroline Cook (Jeff); four grandchild­ren, Jay Kelly Robbins (Caroline), Shara Marie Chandler (Stephen), Christophe­r Stephen Cook, Jonathan Jeffrey Cook; one great-grandson, John Scott Robbins; two brothers, Leon Thornton (Jean) and Harold Thornton; two brothers-in-law, Doyce Robbins (Pat) and Dr. David Robbins (Sherry); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Diane grew up in her family’s home in Bismarck, where she attended public school and was involved in many activities. She served as the pianist at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, drum majorette of Bismarck High School’s drill team, played on the high school basketball team and was recognized as an all-district player, participat­ed in rodeos and was named 1962 Hot Spring County Fair Queen.

She married her high school sweetheart on Aug. 31, 1962, and their marriage was blessed with a son, Kelly, and daughter, Caroline. When John decided to attend law school, Diane was as enthusiast­ic as John and found employment in the admissions office at Vanderbilt University to help support the family. Upon the family’s return to Arkansas after law school and in addition to being a wife and mother to her family, she continued to work outside the home in the personnel department­s of Reynolds Metals at Hurricane Creek and Reynolds Cable Plant at Jones Mill.

Diane began losing her sight in the late ‘70s, which progressed to blindness during the last few years of her brave fight.

She and John have been members of First Baptist Church of Hot Springs for over

40 years. She was a faithful member of the adult choir until her failing vision would no longer permit, and she loved her ladies’ connect group and its members.

A family graveside service will be held at Mazarn Chapel Cemetery, conducted by Executive Pastor Mike Pounders, at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 9. A visitation will follow at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Hot Springs, with a memorial service at 2 p.m. with Pastor John McCallum officiatin­g.
