SWAT Operation Results in Arrest
■ The Hot Springs Police SWAT team prepares to deploy its Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle, or MRAP, Tuesday night after learning a suspect, Travis Smith, 30, wanted on multiple warrants by the state, was inside an apartment on Lake Hamilton Drive, Cpl. Patrick Langley said. Information was obtained Smith was possibly armed and may have been making homicidal or suicidal threats, he said, noting they were able to make contact with Smith and he “came out on his own” after talking to family members. There was an unrelated SWAT operation on Wednesday involving agents of the FBI on Langston Street; no information about the operation was being released on Wednesday.
