Jessievill­e has strong showing at meet

PRESCOTT — Jessievill­e’s Lady Lions placed fifth overall with 41 points while the boys took ninth place with 24 at Tuesday’s Class 3A track and field state championsh­ip at Prescott’s Cummins Stadium.

Jessievill­e sophomore Juliah Rodgers walked away with three first-place finishes for the girls, winning the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.84, the 1600-meter run in 5:30.14 and the 3200-meter run in 12:20.05. For the boys, the 4x800-meter relay team, consisting of Kaleb Eskew, Noah Zetts, Lawson Wideman and Hunter Pye, won the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 8:44.12.

Harding Academy won the girls division with 114.50 points followed by Ashdown with 70 points and West Fork in third with 61.

The Lady Lions 4x800-meter relay team of Megan Brown, Abigale Pickering, Destiny Fox and Kamma Reed took fifth place with a time of 11:16.64. Justice Cole placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 13 feet,

10 inches.

Pickering took fifth in the pole vault with a clearance of

8 feet, 6 inches, while Cole finished sixth with a clearance of

8 feet.

In the boys’ division, Prescott finished first with 82 points while Waldron took second with 80.50 and Ashdown third with 67.

Wideman placed fourth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:44.33 while Zetts finished seventh (10:57.10). Wideman also finished sixth in the 1600-meter run at 4:52.69 with Pye ninth

(5:00.35).

Landon Daley took 12th in the high jump at 5-08 and 13th in the 110-meter hurdles preliminar­y round with a time of

17.99. Daley finished 16th in the

300-meter hurdles at 48.03. The Lions’ 4x400-meter relay team of Dakota Carl, Daley, Logan Reid and Pye finished ninth (3:53.09).

Dalton Gamerdinge­r finished fifth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 11 feet, 6 inches. Ty Lafoon placed ninth in the shot with a put of 42 feet and finished 10th in the discus with a hurl of 107 feet, 10 inches.

FL COMPETES AT STATE MEET

NASHVILLE — Fountain Lake’s girls finished 22nd out of

27 competing teams at the Class

4A track and field state championsh­ip Tuesday at Nashville’s Scrapper Stadium.

Pea Ridge won the meet with

94.50 points while Valley View placed second with 71.50 and Harrison third with 52.

Fountain Lake’s Brooke Wyatt placed fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:39.26 while placing sixth in the 1600-meter run (5:47.51).

Fountain Lake’s Aleks Johnson finished 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.20 second, and Steven DeArmon placed 10th in the long jump with a distance of 19 feet, 10.5 inches.
