HSPD officer to address Saturday’s NAACP meeting

The National Associatio­n for the Advancemen­t of Colored People Branch No. 6013 will hold its monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday on Zoom with Cpl. Patrick Langley, public informatio­n officer for the Hot Springs Police Department, as guest speaker.

The meeting ID is 965 6749 6065. Langley, a native of Tuscumbia, Ala., has lived in Hot Springs since 2004. He is a graduate of Alabama State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a Master of Science in Criminal Justice.

Prior to working at the Hot Springs Police Department, he served as a probation/parole officer with the Arkansas Department of Community Correction, where he was the drug court officer for Garland County. He has been employed with Hot Springs police since 2007 and has served in the Patrol, Criminal Investigat­ions, and Profession­al Standards divisions. Additional­ly, he has served as a drug recognitio­n expert, a negotiator, an instructor, and as a field training officer.

He is a member of the Unity Coalition of Garland County, the Stop the Violence Coalition of Hot Springs and was formerly on the National Park College Community Partnershi­p Team for their criminal justice program. He is a member of the NAACP, Blacks In Government, the National Associatio­n of Blacks in Criminal Justice, and the National Informatio­n Officers Associatio­n.
