Fun City Chorus resumes rehearsals after one-year hiatus
The Fun City Chorus, Hot Springs’ a cappella Men’s Barbershop Chorus, has resumed rehearsals after a one-year-plus hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Director Steve Spakes said in a news release has been pleased with the response and attendance of the membership.
“We are thrilled with the attendance and enthusiasm of our guys, and we have retained better singing habits than I expected. The guys are so excited to be together again — I can see it in their faces,” he said.
The chorus is once again meeting at Westminster Presbyterian Church each Monday at 7 p.m. and is following all required guidelines for COVID-19 safety, the release said.
Fun City has planned a singout, a membership drive, and a new member guest night. The sing-out will be outside Friday at various spots downtown in conjunction with Arts & The Park in Hot Springs.
“The guys are excited to perform publicly after the 14
months of missed singing,” the release said.
“The chorus is also planning a guest night for prospective
members on May 17. If you are a male singer in the Hot Springs/ Hot Springs Village area who enjoys a fun singing environment and great camaraderie you are welcome to attend to see what FCC is all about,” it said.
