Doris Legge

-

Doris (Williams) Legge, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away Friday, June 4, 2021. Doris was born in the small town of Paron, Ark., to Noah and Opal Williams on Dec. 3, 1923.

She was married to the late Bill Legge, the love of her life for 49 years. She was a beautician and former owner-operator of Doris Beauty Centre on Ouachita Avenue for 43 years, and worked beside her late sister, Avinell Brown, for many of those years.

Doris was a faithful member of 3rd Street Church of Christ in Hot Springs for over 50 years. She was there every time the doors were open! Doris was truly a “one of a kind” amazing lady. She was 97 years young and still lived alone and drove anywhere she wanted to go. One place in particular she enjoyed going to was the Elks Lounge for dinner, or going there to watch the Razorbacks and lead the crowd in calling those hogs! She loved those Hogs! She was very humbled to receive the award as the “Elks Woman of The Year” just this year. Doris was an avid bowler. She started in 1944 and in 2019 she retired her ball at Central Lanes Bowling. Doris was very active. She went to a ladies luncheon every Thursday and wouldn’t miss it for anything. You could also find her at Oaklawn Park since the early 60’s cheering those horses around the corner even just this past spring!

Doris loved her family dearly. She leaves behind her brother, Hoyett Williams, of Benton; sister, Yvonne Ault, of Paron; and brother, Neil (Paulette) Williams, of Benton. She has a host of nieces and nephews that will miss her love and generosity through the years.

Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Legge; her parents, Noah and Opal Williams; and sisters, Effie Williams, Maxine Prince, Shirley Taylor and Avinell Brown.
