Cobras trounce England, Knights roll Rattlers

ENGLAND — Visiting Fountain Lake (1-1) scored 20 first-quarter points on its way to a 46-0 halftime lead in a trouncing of England (0-1).

Steve Dearmon paved the way for the Cobras, rushing 7 times for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Caleb Lacy (6-52), Juan Diggs (422) and Wesley Campbell (2-20) added rushing scores for Fountain Lake.

Campbell was 3-of-3 passing for 121 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown strike to Evan East.

Fountain Lake’s Demarius Grant blocked a punt and recovered it for a score, and Gavin Nguyen scored off blocked punt by Kade Shelton.

CENTERPOIN­T 35, MURFREESBO­RO 14

CENTERPOIN­T — Josh Lawson threw four touchdown passes as Centerpoin­t (2-0) rolled over Murfreesbo­ro (1-1).

Caden Owens caught two of Lawson’s scoring throws, while C.J. Fox and Dillon Fox each hauled in one for the Knights, who led 35-0 at halftime.

Jace Clark also added a 1-yard touchdown run for Centerpoin­t.

HASKELL HARMONY GROVE 35, JESSIEVILL­E 14

HASKELL — Benton Harmony Grove (1-0) took a 21-6 lead into halftime and never looked back in a victory over Jessievill­e (0-1).

LITTLE ROCK HALL 52, CUTTER MORNING STAR 8

Jacorey Carter accounted for four touchdowns to power Little Rock Hall (2-0) to keep Cutter-morning Star (0-2) winless on the season.

Carter had scoring runs of 1, 48 and 53 yards and threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Zaccheus Sanders. Cameron Lytle had three touchdowns while Justus Allen scored on a 50-yard fumble return for Hall.

Jeremiah Smith scored the only touchdown for the Eagles on a kickoff return in the second quarter.

MALVERN 30, GLEN ROSE 20

MALVERN — Cedric Simmons and Braylon Watson each scored two touchdowns in a season-opening victory for Malvern (1-0) over Glen Rose (0-1).

Simmons had a 9-yard score, and Watson added a 52-yard score in the second quarter for the Leopards, who led 14-13 at the half. Watson tacked on a 3-yard touchdown in the third, while Simmons capped the night with a 54-yard score in the fourth.

PERRYVILLE 33, MOUNT IDA 14

MOUNT IDA — Tyler Givens ran for three touchdowns and threw for another, leading Perryville (1-0) to a road win over Mount Ida (1-1).

Mason Roland was on the receiving end of Givens’ touchdown pass. Crete Tippen added a 10-yard scoring run for the Mustangs.
