The nursing home report the Arkansas Department of Health updated Monday listed 22 new resident cases in the past 14 days at Village Springs Health and Rehabilitation.

The Highway 7 north location was one of three facilities where 20 or more new resident cases have been reported in the last two weeks. Twenty-two active resident cases were reported at Village Springs.

Nursing home deaths have accounted for 30% of the more than 7,400 COVID-19 deaths the state has reported since the start of the pandemic. Monday’s update listed 12 resident deaths at Village Springs, the only Garland County facility listed in Monday’s update.

The Alabama Department of Public Health said it recorded more deaths than births last year for the first time in the state’s history. The 64,714 recorded deaths surpassed births by more than 7,000. According to Johns Hopkins University’s COVID-19 tracker, more than 13,000 COVID-19 deaths have been reported in Alabama.

Less than 42% of the state’s population is fully vaccinated, compared to 44.95% in Arkansas. Alabama’s 27.5% testing positivity rate has more than doubled Arkansas’ 12.5% rate. • 15,004 active cases, down 770 from Sunday.

• 4,132 active juvenile cases, down 243 from Sunday.

• 462,841 recoveries, up 1,129 from Sunday.

• 3,677,320 vaccine doses received, no change from Sunday.

• 2,843,435 doses given, up 2,596 from Sunday.

• 1,027 hospitalizations, up 12 from Sunday.

• 289 cases on ventilators, no change from Sunday.

• 440 ICU patients, down five from Sunday.

• 7,482 deaths, up 37 from Sunday.

• 2,189 nursing home deaths, up three from Sunday.
