Charles Leon Edwards, age 79, a lifelong resident of Hot Springs, passed away on Sept. 26, 2021. Charlie was a beloved husband, father, Papa, brother and friend.

He was born Oct. 14, 1941, to William Jerden and Mabel Clara (Avant) Edwards, the seventh of eight children. Charlie was a graduate of Cutter Morning Star High School, where he met his bride at a basketball game against Mountain Pine. Together they began a family and built a business, Edwards Electric, from the ground up.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill Edwards, Bobby Edwards and Mike Edwards; sisters, Clara Howard and Martha Young; grandchild­ren, Heather Davis, Daniel Davis and Melissa Edwards; and close friend, Bob Griffith (road trip designated driver).

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judy Edwards; his four children, Brian Edwards, Scott Edwards, Suzanne Ezell (Phil), and Aaron Edwards (Tanya); brother, Jimmy Edwards; and sister, Margaret Bennett. His legacy includes 14 grandchild­ren, John Edwards, Alan Edwards, Amanda Evans (Michael), Allison Rosas (Heber), Zac Edwards, Alex Davis,

Rachel Ferree (Sean), Morgan Edwards (Coy), Emma Giezentann­er (Andrew), Rhyanna Perry, Cheyanne Perry, Ryan Liggett, Charlie Edwards (Summer), Savannah Edwards; and 17 great-grandchild­ren. He is survived by his beloved Frazier family, many others who were considered his kids, countless close friends, and many dear nieces and nephews.

Charlie was a friend to everyone and in his nearly 80 years never met a stranger. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone who asked and never turned down someone in need. Charles was a man of integrity and a hardworkin­g provider. He refused to fully retire and worked tirelessly with a smile on his face until the end of his life. He will be forever remembered for his generosity, kind spirit, sharp wit, and sense of humor. He was the best of the best and blessed all those who knew him.

The visitation will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, and the funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, both at Caruth-hale Funeral Home.
